Do footballers deserve more money than doctors?

Recommended Posts

Of course it matters what we think! If it didn't do you think people would've bothered voting in the last election or was that inane in your mind as well?

It is a misrepresentation though since there are thousands of very average doctors, thousands of below average doctors and a mere handful of exemplary doctors. There's only one Wayne Rooney thankfully.

A look at the income of your average footballer will show up wages much lower than the average doctor. Check out the training ground car park at Chesterfield.

When 80,000 people are willing to pay the NHS £50 each to watch an operation whilst millions of others pay a subscription to watch it live on TV then the Doctors would be able to ask for a pay rise and the NHS would be in a position to pay it.

Lol. Casualty and Holby City on twice per week is more than enough.

Most of the top footballer's wages are based on their image rights as much as anything else. As such, your Rooney's, Beckham's, Ronaldo's et al all bring in a lot more money than is paid out through sponsorship, sales, corporate events and crowds etc.

In essence the top footballers are themselves a large business that drives revenue up and as such, warrant such wages (to some extent) in view of their short term career.

Most footballers only earn what most CEO's of big businesses earn and one can hardly say that most CEO's do a great deal of 'work' to deserve their pay.

If we're including all professional tiers, then "most footballers" earn considerably less than the average surgeon.

Yeah you're right ... 'there's only one Wayne Rooney thankfully' :hihi:

Please state where you got your information on there being thousands of below average doctors and a mere handful of exemplary ones.

The average premiership footballers wage is £676,00 per annum or around £13,000 per week which I think you will agree is a little bit more than the average doctor!:)

I don't know off hand how many thousands of doctors there are in the UK but statistically 49.9% of them will be below average.

Below average doctors still receive six figure incomes and the driveway of a really terrible doctor is likely to outperform the entire training ground car park at Ches Vagas FC.

You knew this of course. :)

But even the worst Premiership footballer is still better than at least 75% of all professional footballers. Theoretically at least, since at least 75% of professional clubs are ranked below the Premiership...

Statistically 49.9% of what you write will be below average. The Law of Averages isn't always a great way to measure a skill.
