Miss M
I'm thinking of buying one for use whilst driving. After looking over the net, it seems that I can use one so long as I'm seen to be paying due care and attention to the road... Is this true? truman
Using a phone hands free is still legal...
scottsmith
Yes - a proper handsfree is legal, but has to be a proper handsfree, not just putting your speaker on your phone (even if it is voice activated and you need no physical interaction to turn it on) It's legal to use speakerphone as long as the phone isn't in your hand. Otherwise how could a friendly Policeman tell the difference between someone using speaker phone and someone using Blue Tooth through their head unit? grgrsmth
Yep. They're quite cheap, all things considered.
HeadingNorth
I imagine that if you were to actually crash while using a bluetooth set, you still could end up being charged for driving without due care and attention - if it's concluded that you were at fault for the crash. You can't, though, be pulled up merely because you are using one.
alchresearch
This is a good online test to see if talking on a mobile (even a hands free headset) can affect your driving. http://www.dft.gov.uk/drivingchallenge/
