Is the country going down the pan (Nile Pan)?

I must have lived a sheltered life, because even though my first few years were spent in north Africa, I've never used one of these 'oles in the ground.

 

Is it about the squatting, a refusal to use "western" devices, or what?

 

A quick google brought to my attention Nature's Platform where they claim:

 

Two-thirds of humanity use the squatting position to answer the call of nature.

 

In those cultures, appendicitis, diverticulosis, hemorrhoids, colitis, prostate disorders and colon cancer are virtually unknown.

 

Failing to mention that starvation is quite common.

 

I love it when "statistics" are misused in this way, they could just as well have said:

 

Two-thirds of humanity is poor.
