MuteWitness
A friend is selling a rolex watch has no original papers as it is 20 years old but in box with an insurance valuation which has the model number and serial number, is the original papers essential when selling or will the insurance certificate be enough? alex3659
You will find it difficult to sell a Rolex for a decent price without the paperwork. Which model is it and what is it made from??..
Berberis
I would want an independent valuation no matter what paperwork your friend had.
Alien
No papers are not good (been there done it) Also a recent service ticket would help as it's 20yrs old.

MuteWitness
Thanks for your help, I offered to list in on-line but wasn't sure if it was dodgy without original papers, looks like taking it into a jewellers would be much easier.
alex3659
If the watch is a honest watch you can have it checked out and new papers issued. I once took one to be assessed and they told me which shop it had been bought at, when and where.
