If, like me you have been on the Online tariff version 5, I am sure you will have been impressed by the way EDF haven't increased prices over the past few years. However, beware a letter entitled "Great Savings with EDF Energy". The "savings" bit refers to savings we have made in the past.... but no more ! This tariff is being merged with the standard tariff. Spent several hours trying to work it out, and for me it appears to mean a 40 % price increase. Also "you'll now receive a 6% monthly direct debit discount..... and a Dual Fuel discount of £8.40". AGAIN - much worse than previous. They don't bother mentioning the new Online 6 tariff - but that goes back to the old days of Standing Charges, and works out dearer for me. Time to move suppliers ! Berberis Posted July 17, 2010 Share Posted July 17, 2010 I thought EDF are a French company that could not make large profits from its French operations due to government protection of their own people (wishful thinking in the UK) so they supply to the UK to maximise their profits.
