Chris28
I want to buy a new television but after a visit to Currys ended up quite lost in confusion. My neighbour has a recording device, but it only seems to record BBC 1 and 2, and ITV which isn't what I want. I need BBC4 etc. At the shop though, there were recorders, bluerays, dvd recorders. I don't know, and my husband didn't either. At the moment we have a TV, a Freeview box and a video recorder. I currently record programmes on the video recorder from the freeview box. There is a recording device in Argos for £100, but my son says it probably wont record subtitles if the freeview is built into the TV. This is the main thing I need to get right. What ever I buy to record things, must record subtitles because my husband is deaf. Can anyone advise me what I need to buy please?
Forumosaurus
Get a TV with Freeview+ built in, same as sky plus. Record your programmes digitally, sorted. Plus you can pause, rewind live tv too. Or buy a Freeview plus box separately and plug it into your tv just like your current standard freeview box. Have a munch on this: http://www.techradar.com/news/television/complete-guide-to-freeview-plus-625063
Ghozer
You basically need a Freeview recorder (PVR Box) this can be either purchased as a Freeview+ box and added to your current TV in place of your current Freeview box, or purchased built into the TV as above, check the link provided
Chris28
Thanks for those. In the link it doesn't say anything about recording subtitles. My son says his virgin+box doesn't record subtitles on his harddrive. I think this means I may need to keep the video recorder, and freeview box, and record in the same way that I am doing now.
