grinder
My reply to you in French was turmed aside because, apparently. foreign langusges are not permitted . Your French to me was translated and permitted. Mine wasn't. Here's the English translation. " The same to thee my dear. In Quebec the term thee is always used instead of you in the first person singular. Friendly, isn't it. Why not between us? ". I see nothing mean spirited or snide in that, nor was it my intention. You are right, I do like tha last word, but I can see there is considerable bias against us. So no matter what I say I'll get ganged up on. I think you may find your very wrong there, we are not biased against us but we could be bias against you.. You see any one who tries to tell us their superior to us automatically rubs us up the wrong way.. In fact we have a name for people who do this, we call them WUMs (Wind up merchants) and you'd be amazed how many there are. You even get people living in say Leeds or Doncaster claiming to be an American just to cause an argument .. Amazing init.....
Harleyman
You're not being fair, introducing historical facts into the argument. Just making a point with noddyholder as you can see
JFKvsNixon
Just making a point with noddyholder as you can see It wasn't meant as a criticism to you, it was a sarcastic comment aimed at the person that you were replying to.
artisan
I think yesterday our american friends were giving us Johnny Walker wisdom. They seem much more subdued today.

Harleyman
It wasn't meant as a criticism to you, it was a sarcastic comment aimed at the person that you were replying to. I realized that. Might say it's always a pleasure exchanging views with you JFK. Renews my faith that the SF have members who can discuss issues with intelligence and reason. I see artisan is on line and now that I have given a suitable reply to his one liner "pearl of wisdom" I shall ignore any further communications from that source

So no matter what I say I'll get ganged up on.I edited it and translated it myself after I saw what the mod said or they'd have deleted mine as well. Look, I don't have anything against you personally, or America or Americans, it just gets my mad up when you (as an ex-pat) have a go at Sheffield and England. Perhaps it's just a culture clash and what you think is being funny just comes across to me as being sarky. I don't want to do it anymore. it's even boring me now! retep
America is a land of immigrants either by descent or like me coming here many years ago. You seem to suggest that only the native Americans can claim to be real Americans. Going back a few hunderd years before the white man arrived at these shores would it be accurate to say that the only real British are the Celts and the Romans, Saxons, Jutes, Danes and Normans are the interlopers who came to England and drove the native Celts beyond the moutains into Wales and to what today is Cornwall? The Cherokee are beautiful people but were screwed by the white man who took their land away because they in turn had their land taken away by the Englsih in Ireland. If I were to have Native American blood I would choose Apache. They were a kick ass tribe who fought the white man all the way and never surrendered officially Where did the native Celts come from. Harleyman
Where did the native Celts come from. They are supposed to be several wandering tribes who came from somewhere in central Europe and settled parts of what is now Germany, France, Spain and the British isles including Ireland. Who was there before them I have no idea but the Celts were there long long before even the Romans came. How old is Stonehenge? Who built that? The Celtic Druid priests
