philyyy
Seems that there is due to be a new addition to the road of food as a Persian restaurant sign has just gone up on a shop a couple of doors down from the now redundant Polish restaurant. Suffragette1
Whereabouts on Abbeydale Road? I can't think of a Polish restaurant other than Polonium. I love Persian food, in fact it's probably my favourite having grown up with some very close Iranian family friends, they cooked the tastiest food that I've ever had. There is already a Persian restaurant on Abbeydale Road, just past Carterknowle Road.

Zilly
Hope they serve fresh and plentiful flat-leaf parsley like Shiraz. That will keep the hubby happy. Will watch out for that one opening.

PeteM01
I must recommend this restaurant (called Caspian). Lunch there today was very good indeed: lamb fillet with orange zest and forest berries and spicy fish stew were the standout dishes but the meat skewers were also well received. The accompanying saffron rice was superbly light and buttery. Starters were not quite as good but my aubergine and lamb dish, with naan bread, was good. Salads (yes, with flat leaf parsley!) were OK and came with a vast hunk of feta - these might need to be worked on to make a successful dish. Overall, the experience was very pleasant and came to about £12 a head, with soft drinks (it's BYO) and coffees/teas afterwards.
