Do brake pads come with brake grease?

Recommended Posts

Mintex are perfectly good pads and would be considered an upgrade on some vehicles.

Copper grease is only about £2.50 for a small tube. Don't go to Halfords they are v expensive. Go to somewhere like Europarts just of Penistone road. They do all those bits and bobs at a good price. They also sell pads although i think they do Pagid rather than Mintex.

As long as you prep it isn't that bad a job.

Evans (we'll pick your pocket while you wait) Halshaw wanted £800 to do discs and pads all round on mine. I told them where to go and got genuine renault dealer parts to do it myself. Still saved over £500 and i could have gone cheaper. I only went Renault parts because of the discs and it getting tricky if your having to swap bits around.

Some pads (check because i think Mintex do) come with Shims on the back. The shim is a thin bit of metal or rubber that also helps to stop brkae squeel.

My mate always swears by Pagid or Textar. He fits them to fits 325 BMW & is well into his cars. He buys all the magazines with the reviews & they back up what you say as well.. think it was a toss up between Pagid & Textar as best value & stopping performace.

Think Eurocar Parts sell them?

Yeah Euro parts do them. Pagid or ebc = pagid.

Was going to buy some brake pads and fit them myself but if I have to buy a tub of brake grease that I will never use again, on top of the trauma of taking the wheels off etc I might as well get someone else to fit them!

MIght be a silly question but I aint no mechanic and the parts place is closed.

Also are Mintex pads any good? it's only a 2.2diesel Civic so they don't need to be race spec.

Cheers

:)

If you are not familiar with the braking system please let a garage fit them.

Copper grease should always be used on the rear of the pads.

Mintex pads are first class.
