Classic Rock
After a couple of outings to the Mangla where a friend challenged them to make the hottest curry possible, despite their words of advice that very spicy food isn't good for you, he's on a mission to find a restaurant which can make one even hotter. This has been an education for me, I had no idea that a Tindaloo is hotter than a Fahl (is that how it's spelt?). Where can you get the hottest curry in town? Bulgarian
I would imagine any curry house will make you a hot curry, by just adding tons of chillies, but I don't see the point of eating one myself.
moke
i'd steer clear of any regular takeaway style post-pub / buffet style cirry house - from experience, they will just dope up their regular sauce with cheap bottled chilli to make it into a phall. the mogul room, just down the road from the porter cottage, does a very nice ,very hot curry, they call the 'naga morris', they sell it as 'the worlds hottest curry (which seems to come from the use of naga chillies, the hottest wild chillies that grow). i'd say it's not as brutal as the crappy phall's ive had from cheap curry houses, but still made me sweat like a criminal. it had a really interesting sour, peppery flavour once you got past the intensity of the heat. worth a shot, but order a spare pint, as the service for drinks has been slow every time i've been in. Sounds really good. In general I find the curry houses in Sheffield go be fairly mild (vindaloos, as tend to avoid the specialist 'hot ones'). Will have to check put The Mogul Room

This has been an education for me, I had no idea that a Tindaloo is hotter than a Fahl (is that how it's spelt?). Where can you get the hottest curry in town? Not a curry but the hottest food I've ever had in Sheffield was last week at Bahn Thai. The beef salad was volcanic. The mixture of lime juice, tamarind and chili paste in the dressing was delicious but eye-wateringly hot - the lime juice stripped the tongue of any defensive layers, the chili penetrated like concentrated acid and the tamarind laid the boot in whilst the taste buds were still lying helpless on the floor. Interestingly, the staff offered to make the dishes even hotter for the Thai couple that we were eating with, implying that they are normally watered down for the wussy western palate. If you want a challenge, I would suggest a round of beef salads, full-on Thai-style.

Will have to check put The Mogul Room it's worth a go - the dishes all seem fresh - lots of fresh herbs, and lots of flavour - and their starters were great (best prawn poori i have ever had - a brilliantly theatrical blown up chapatti). something for everyone. Do they serve salt lassi at the Moghul Rooms? I have found this to be a good accompaniment to spicy food, at least at my fave, East and West. The amount of chili in the salt lassi has a splendid multiplying effect on the already quite hot food that they serve. Adding insult to injury, as one friend put it. You may have to ask for the food to be made at full heat, though, as they also seem to tone it down for caucasians.
Sharp87
bizzarely, one of the hottest dishes i have ever had in a curryhouse were chunks of fried cheese. i had to cool myself down afterwards with my usual madras!!
