I have just returned from a trip to the supermarket. As I was entering a woman was loading a child into a shopping trolley. It was quite evident from the smell that he had stepped into something that had recently exited a dogs backside and was now being smeared onto the wire mesh of the trolley.

Bearing in mind that the next customer to use that trolley might fill it with French loaves I have to think that there is a serious health hazard here.

Opinions.

If it was Netto the kid would most likely have stepped in it whilst in the store.

A holding pen??? They are human beings like anyone else and are allowed to be seen in public... if it's an inconvience that some people have to shop with their kids then tough! My daughter enjoys shopping with me so as long as she does and doesn't cause any annoyance to anyone else then she is fine!

Maybe it could be called a creche or something, I'm sure they wouldn't use 'holding pen' as their marketing term. They could make it optional too. Not all kids in supermarkets are little angels & some parents seem to struggle to control them, if those parents left their kids in the soundproofed creche, it'd be better for everyone.

Somebody doesn't like children?

A holding pen for kids OUTSIDE the supermarket . you have to leave them there on your way in and get them back on way out.

this would also solve the problem the rest of us have with kids everywhere when you are trying to do a quick run round , grab what you need and off.

Hope so , as all the rain will keep the kids indoors and out of the way of us who are alergic to kids.

Id like to go a stage further and ban screaming , annoying , loud kids from flying at all.

total ban should be imposed asap.

all people with kids should be made to holiday in britain ,so the rest of us who hate kids can enjoy peaceful flights to our holidays abroad.

dearie me, theres a lot of child haters on here. You'd never believe they were once children themselves!

If you can't bear the sight of them in the supermarket during the daytime, then here's a novel idea. Go in the evening when they are in bed! Problem solved!

Back to the OP, I don't have a real problem with kids in the trolley, but I'd certainly check my kids shoes first! How can you not notice or smell dog muck on shoes when you lift them up?

I've seen adults sneeze, catch and wipe snot in their hands, and then grab the trolley handle. I've also seen people picking their nose, and scratching in their pants and then grab the trolley handle. When the swine flu was about, I used to take wipes and anti bac and wipe the trolley handle before I shopped. Supermarkets make enough money to have someone wiping the handles of the trolleys as they are brought back.

well i don't care tbh...i put my eldest child (she's 4) in the main part of the trolley the other day, she was clean though!

I had to go shopping on my own whilst OH was working and they ran out of the trolleys which seated two children as opose to just one, my youngest is 1, i could hardly have carried her all the way round the shop!

I always use one of the small trolleys, but then there are only two to buy for.

I always wear gloves when pushing the trolley, after I once saw a man sneeze , and the lot came down his nose, he wiped it all on his hands then got hold of a trolley and covered the handles with you know what.:gag:

Another time I once saw a child jumping around in the main part of a trolley, and I just thought to myself that child is going to fall out of that trolley and hurt itsself, two seconds later it had done just that, what a commotion, the child was bleeding, and screaming, and so was the mother. ( screaming that is ).
