melthebell
..........that couldve ended in tragedy. just seen on sky news video footage of police jumping out of a vehicle to arrest a 70 year old man for not wearing a seatbelt. one was smashing the drivers side window in and one was on the bonnet kicking the windscreen in. The man alledgedly has previously had a stroke and takes medication for a heart problem. now this isnt a "go" at the police, but it yet again highlights the extremes SOME officers will go to "get their man" surely smashing their way in to a driver ISNT the best way to deal with a none worn seatbelt? ive had a look on sky and bbc sites for more details about it and hopefully the video but cant find it as yet

medusa
I'm a supporter of the police in general, but how on earth can they justify that sort of damage to a car (as well as fear to a car driver) just to hand him 3 points on his licence and a £60 fine? IamChiChi
Reading that article, I don't think they are as bad as they sound. The guy drove off after being stopped once already. So no wonder they used those tactics.
melthebell
No ,of course its not so would you like the following done to you? "one officer attacked his Range Rover side window with a baton 15 times, while another climbed on to the bonnet and kicked the windscreen in." for say being caught 5mph over the speed limit? and saying youd had a stroke and a heart condition? So no wonder they used those tactics. apparently he said he thought theyd done and was going home to take his heart tablets obviously theyd already talked to him so knew how much of a threat he was and what shape / oldness hed have looked like couldnt they have knocked on the window told him to wind it down and told him theyd not finished yet and he was in slightly more trouble?
