IamChiChi
I don't see the problem? I'm sure she knows what she's doing.
Obelix
Indeed - I'm sure she will make up the missed schooling and you rarely get chance to do anything like this - I'm fairly certain that she will have a decent support team on shore.

HeadingNorth
There is no longer a record for being the youngest to sail solo around the world, so it's a completely pointless attempt. Whether she succeeds or not, she will not enter the record books.
Harleyman
The parents must have been off their rockers and what happens if she gets into trouble somewhere in the middle of the ocean like the 16 year old American girl. Whichever country is involved in the rescue has to provide a helicopter, crew, equipment and provide first aid or other medical treatment if needed and then room and board until she can be flown back home. The cost must be considerable as it costs around 2,000 dollars an hour alone to keep a chopper airborne. I would hope that the country of rescue sends the bill to the nutty parents

The same thing that would happen if a 36 year old got in trouble in the middle of the ocean?
