Fat Loss Diet Plan

Recommended Posts

Over a single workout it won't make much difference but because of how we utilise our fat and sugar stores for energy during exercise it's more efficient to hit the weights first, whilst your blood sugar levels are highest, then do your cardio later.

When you first start to exercise your body prioritises carbohydrates for energy regardless of the type of exercise involved. Initially, your blood supply is increased to the working muscles, heart and lungs and actually diverts blood away from your fat cells and other non-essential tissue. If exercise is maintained after about 15-20mins then blood is then re-diverted back to fat cells to increase available energy. This makes more efficient to do a fat burning exercise when most fat is available to the muscles.

However, bear in mind that humans, unlike some other mammals, are really inefficient at burning fat for fuel during exercise and you'd probably need about 10-14hours of 'cardio' to burn 1pound of stored body fat. Any form of exercise will burn calories and helps towards creating the necessary calorie deficit but by far the biggest aspect of losing weight is looking at what you eat and drink.
