mj.scuba
Worse still are those who think they can be good drivers while not following the Highway Code or the legal speed limits. Worse than the worst? OK. Worse than the worst of the worst - drivers that are not very good themselves but always think somebody else is worse because the other is a bit faster. Your turn. Worse than the worst of the worst of the worst......
Yog Sothoth
I never, ever break the speed limit.
Cyclone
I never, ever break the speed limit. You're a pedestrian then.
Cyclone
Which brings up another tangential point; the worst drivers are usually the ones who think they're good drivers. Good drivers probably think that they are good drivers as well though. So just because you think you're a good driver doesn't tell you anything. SnailyBoy
You're not far wrong HeadingNorth. The worst ones are those claiming to be the Mother Teresa's of the road, because they consume their energy on the critiscism of others but cannot recognise or accept their own flaws. Not to mention middle lane hoggers and those that drive at 40mph in 60mph zones in fine weather. Oh good, the obligatory 'Sunday' driver, example. Surprised you don't see them as overtaking practice. Don't worry I do 40mph in a 60mph zone when there aren't any adverse conditions is plain stupidity imo.
scottsmith
Everyone has strayed over the limit at some point, people saying they have NEVER travelled faster than the speed limit are lying. Also nearly everyone has broken one law at one point in their lives, the fact these perfect drivers are calling speeders criminals is very hypocritical. HeadingNorth
Good drivers probably think that they are good drivers as well though. Not in my experience. The drivers you can actually trust are the ones who don't trust themselves; they pay a lot more attention.
HeadingNorth
Also nearly everyone has broken one law at one point in their lives, the fact these perfect drivers are calling speeders criminals is very hypocritical. Speeding is breaking the law. No hypocrisy there. If I were to claim that I have never broken the law, you might have a case, but I don't even claim I've never broken the speed limit. That makes no difference to the fact that speeding is breaking the law.

In the context of the thread, it is people calling for criminals to be burnt at the stake....except when it comes to crimes they themselves do, such as speeding, which is hypocritical. Scottsmith's comment is perfectly in context. The hypocricy comes from those that vilify drivers that occasionaly exceed the speed limit without distinguishing from those that drive like nutters and should be banned. The problem is if you're going to criticise drivers for what is a minor offence, you put yourself on a pedestal of being whiter than white yourself. People rarely are.
