markfor
Crucible Theatre Went to get Stand by tickets and was told they dont do them any more Seems strange as you would think they would want to fill up empty seats?
theimposter
They told me (albeit tongue in cheek) that it wasnt 'what Sheffield Theatres was about now'...OK, more empty seats then...
Lady Star
http://www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk/creativedevelopmentprogramme/productions/crucible/perfinf.shtml Standby tickets are still listed on their website - purchase between 10 and 12 on the day or performance, or 90 mins before show - £7.50 each, maximum of two per person... There are only 14 per show, but don't think that this has changed, as used to have a limited number before...
medicgirl
That's a shame, standby tickets were always such good value.

Tyranna
As a performer myself, I think it is essential that ST should still do standby tickets, even if they may have to offer them only on their website. How else will they cover costs re. empty seats, and make the arts more accessible to people who might normally get the chance or inclination to tear themselves away from the TV for just a few nights a year? Maybe if there are large numbers of empty seats at some shows, how about offering a GROUP standby offer, for example for school pupils, tenants groups, Senior Citizens Clubs?
