So you want to buy a nice flat in town for you/and your family. You might need 1, 2, 3 or so bedrooms.

There's a 1000 to choose from, at Parkhill.

How much would you be prepared to pay and for what.

£1

£25 000?

£50 000?

£100 000?

£200 000?

£1 million?

Having lived there a long time ago, I wouldn't be in any hurry to return, no matter how much they try and glam it up....it's still an eyesore and always will be, the only true way to glam that place up is to bring to rubble and ashes...

Parkhill council flats you mean? Or are they private now?

The majority are empty and are in the process of being refurbished, a process which began in 2003.

Roughly 2/3s will be private and 1/3 council. A few will be shared ownership, available to any idiot prepared to pay both a mortgage and rent at the same time and end up owning only part of his property.

Surely thats better than giving all of their money to a greedy landlord? at least at the end you will get the money for the part of the property you own back from the developer. How else are younger people supposed to get on the property ladder?

If they've managed to solve the noise problem of people thudding along the walkways in the middle of the night, I think it'd be a great place to live, for single people and couples. And if they've retained and re-landscaped the inner green areas for community use. Especially if it was really cheap to buy. The views across the city are spectacular.

I think it'd work better if it was totally owner occupied though, rather than part social housing. Either that or they should have handed it over to the Universities, lock, stock and barrel, for student accommodation. Keep em all in one place! ;)

So the council tenants who lived there before will be moved back in and the rest will be up for sale?
