Saw a documentary last year about this move, many people were discriminated against weren't they ? things they couldn't get away with now-a days, even if you had a small child that didn't even "look right" you couldn't board a ship.

I would like to see that documentary. Personally, I never heard of anything like that but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. Now, if your skin was anything but white in the 50's and 60's, you could have had a problem emigrating to Australia.

Hi, I was born in Sheffield, ( Meersbrook ), and sailed for Melbourne in 1964. My wife and I visit W.A. frequently, as eldest daughter and family live in Woodridge. We have 3 teenage grandkids there, and look forward so much to our visits. My name is Ed Harvey, and I went to Carfield Primary, then High Storrs, then worked at Jos.Pickering & Sons before migrating at age 21. Love it here. Regards to all Forumers.
