Charles Kennedy - 'not defecting to Labour'

Recommended Posts

Well since Labour's parliamentary clown deserted to get dressed up in ermine they're short of a little light relief in the PLP. Kennedy would fit the bill nicely. I'm not so the the rank and file Lib Dems would be terribly miffed - more likely to be relieved to have him off their hands.

It was my understanding that Kennedy was one of the most popular senior Lib Dem's? I thought that many wanted him to stand again for leader when Menzies Campbell stepped down

I think it would be a body blow for the Lib Dems to see a former leader, who lead the party when the Lib Dems stood for something, leave the party in disgust.

Is it good that you feel strongly enough about something to sit and write all that lot, or is it sad that you have so much spare time?:(

Don't worry about me Phil I've had a good day out at Hillsbrough today. I wrote most of it at half-time!:hihi:

Charles Kennedy is better off staying put and along with like minded thinkers like Simon Hughes, Andrew George, Bob Russell, Mark Williams, Roger Williams and Vince Cable [...] finding ways to express their independence from the Tories within the coalition, [...]
I agree with the comments I've quoted.

Most Liberals have spent their entire political lives opposing Labour. The only thing Charles would get from resigning in a miff and joining the delusional raggle-taggle band of self-serving charlatans that comprise the present day labour party would be the removal of any credibility he has. Rather like Anne Widdecombe becoming RC in a pet because she didn't like the idea of women having authority in the Anglican church. How can people compromise the ideals and standards of a lifetime and expect to retain any respect?

I'm inclined to see this as yet another example of the lies being bruited about by the gutter labour press and activists in their determined attempts to put the kibosh on the coalition. They'd say and do anything to retain/regain power, as has been proved over and again many times in the past.

I'm sorry this is terribly off topic but the thread title looks like Charles Kennedy is not defecating, and I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. I then think of the phrase 'defecating in labour' which is even more discombobulating, especially as he's a bloke.

You can get back to your politics now, I'm off to scrub my brain with bleach.

I've had to remove some of those hysterical exclamation marks ... screeching people give me a headache, sorry.

You just can't get your head around the meaning of compromise, co-operation and coalition, can you? You can see now why there could never have been any prospect of a coalition with Labour, can't you?

You can see that, can't you? :suspect: *doubts it very much*

hmmm, delusional labour activists ... did I already say that? :D

At least your ex leader is paying lip service to his socialist principles. Now he's a multi-millionaire he's donating some of his ill-gotten gains to the victims of his illegal wars. Good for him, I say!
