What do people on here really think about Facebook??

Recommended Posts

Ive been on FB for a couple of years, not had any major problems...but recently ive had to change my password as my security told me it had been "Keylogged" i dont know what this means exactley..

I dont know if its me or what but i dont feel safe online anymore especially on FB, which is a shame as i speak to family and friends on there...does anyone else feel the same?

i think facebook was a good idea in general but now its just irritating the way people feel the need to let you know exactly what they are doing every minute of everyday nobody cares!!! but it seems like they think people do for some reason? to be honest i think you have gota be a pretty sad person to spend so much time on there like a lot of people do they think they are really cool being on facebook but infact its really sad that they feel the need to go on there and just write pointless updates about there pointless lives

Not really sheffield related. But..

I feel fine on facebook. Im sure it doesnt actually tell you youve been keylogged, ive had login problems, and seen the real FB security page. Anyway, a keylogger is on your computer, and facebook has no way of picking this up. A keylogger records your keystrokes on the keyboard, thats how some passwords are stolen. Are you sure it was really facebook? Always check its the correct site in the address bar, no added bits or changed bits, for example, http://www.facebook.com is fine, http://www.facebook1.com or http://www.facesbook.com are not. They then steal the password and username you entered ob the fake site. Or look up browser tab napping. Tust take simple, obvious steps towards security, and do a virus and spyware scan regularly.

I work in an FE college. Last year the college had a big information drive to inform students about the lax security on FB and other social networking sites. It was quite scary and it discouraged me from signing up to any social networking sites.

I think its best to keep a certain distance from everyone online. I have a fake birthday and no details in my profile-no phone numbers/addresses/marital status etc.

Also do not say when you are off on holiday on social networking sites and avoid downloading the free applications as these are only allowed if you give the random people that make them access to your information.

Sticking to this I think Im safe enough (along with spyware and virus protection etc).

what does annoy me is that other people can tag me on photos. I think this should be stopped. Noone can see my photos from my profile but from my friends profiles there are 100s of pics of me around.

i know that when i accidentally type http://www.facebook.com into my address bar but without the 'o' in '.com' my antinvirus goes haywire. dont know if this is actually a threat to your computer tho.

as for facebook i used to use it a long time ago, but now i very rarely log into it.

i only use it for the events that people set up as its easier to track where and when people have invited me out!

but i got fed up with the constant spamming for poker, farm ville etc etc so i dont bother with it anymore, too much cr@p on it for me to bother with.
