Is it right that the Government are punishing the poor the most?

Poor Gleggy. His boss is off on holiday and he is stuck having to defend a regressive budget, desperately trying to make out that the Institute of Fiscal Studies is some sort of quasi communist Labour backed think tank.

Really? What did he say to make you think that?

And poor Cameron, spouse and latest Cameron offspring are slumming it in an NHS hospital - heart bleeds doesn't it?

Hmmm, that is how John Major ran the economy. In fact that is how every Govt runs the economy.

Is committing to further spending when there is no money in the coffers a wise thing to do, as Labour did in their dying days, to the extent Treasury staff were so alarmed they had to ge written confirmation to cover their own backs?

It was the only sensible thing they could do to protect businesses and their employees from the inability of the banks to do their job and provide them with the credit they needed to keep afloat. Had the Govt not kept spending up the recession would have been much worse and more akin to the one Thatcher created in the early 80s with a healthy economy.

Incidentally I remind you of the nature of the level of debt the ConDems are using to justify their ideological attack on the poor and public sector:

Historically it doesn't look so reckless to me and certainly doesn't justify the level of pain and suffering they are about to inflict on us.
