teevan
Does anyone know any pupils from King Edwards School in 1937 who might still be around and remember the German exchange visit to King Edwards School in 1937? And did anyone take part in the return trip to Germany?
hillsbro
Suggest you contact Don Nicolson of the Old Edwardians' Association; he has lots of old school magazines as well as some useful contacts. Here is the website. Just looking briefly through the magazines that have been scanned for the site, the July 1937 issue includes this: "We extend a hearty welcome to the party of German youths who have come to us from Berlin accompanied by Herr Friedrich. Their recital of German folk-songs was particularly interesting" and the December 1937 issue has a long article "Sommerferienaustauschgemeinschaftsfahrt, or, Eine neue Harzreise". The July 1938 issue reports on that year's Easter visit to Germany. Good luck! Philip Robinson (K.E.S. 1959-66).
