CeeBeeBee
--------------- hi ya tin-man, help me out. I lived 3/4 way up cyclops st on the right side as you went up, our front door faced the tip if you knew it. In our back yard were 6 houses with back doors, all 6 houses had toilets outside. Over the wall looking into grimesthorpe rd were houses, there backdoors were face`ing our back yards. Are they back to back houses. Sounds like they were just regular terraced houses- back to backs only had one door either in to the back yard or out onto the street, there were a few on Upwell Street close to chambers lane

Hi Brian, the houses on cyclops st had a front and back door,so don't think they were classed as back to back.Sheila
brian1941
Shelia, as you said she wern`t that bad, when i lived in cyclops st in my school years i use to do odd jobs at w/ends, i use to white wash people`s celler head- steps- and celler for extra spending money. // well// my mum knew olive very well and olive asked mum if she knew anyone that did odd jobs. Mum told her of me, but i refused as olive new my pass as a ckeeky lad, mum had a word with her and things were o,k. A knocked on the door cau`tiously with my head held down, she opened the door, come in lad she said. Well i couldn`t believe the things she did, she gave me a bun and a glass of pop, and mixed the white wash for me. When i`d finished the job she gave me some buns to take home and a tanner for the job, every time she saw me in the street it was always hello love. Just shows how things turn out.
