Racist rap or hiphop

Recommended Posts

First, Black/Death metal is long dead. It was never mainstream even at its peak nearly 20 years ago. Its considered an underground sub-genre. It was more anti-Christian with vague National Socialist undertones, but not racist, if anything they hated everyone, including each other. Can you name a racist Black metal band?

Secondly skrewdriver was the first and pretty much only neo-nazi rock band that split up around 17 years ago.

Both of your examples are niche market and or long since ceased. they are not current in any sense of the word.

1...........no black metal is not dead..........its actually quite big and carries on getting bigger and sadly NSBM has also got bigger.

2: SKREWDRIVER arent the only neo nazi band, theres hundreds, plenty are still going

3: i never said they were mass market, i was purely showing examples that they exist.........as people seemed to poopoo the idea that they did

4: both forms of music are current because they exist...........currently

http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=317737896&blogId=467080816 a list of white power bands, yes its out of date and yes its far from exhaustive but theres a hell of a lot on it, id prolly say theres more on it than known "racist hip hop bands"

Of course neo-Nazi music is niche market. After all, most music listeners aren't fascists. :|

This has no bearing on the fact that it exists, however. I'm sure the saddoes who record it wish it were more popular.

By the way Skrewdriver are far from the only neo-nazi rock band. Instead of challenging people who are making legitimate claims, you'd be better off doing some research.

a very good point. i tried to put a link up but it went. google racist rap hip hop, you will find the links.

I've seen a web site before which preported to contain 'information' about racist hiphop but it was so obviously hosted by some white power goon that it had no credibility. I've searched again but I didn't find it.

When do u hear white power music belting from a car?? I hear lots of rap music talking about the 'N' word, ect.

So when African American hip hop MCs refer to themselves and their 'bredren' as 'nigga' and 'niggaz' they are being racist against err.. who?

ect.

I know you meant etc., as in et cetera .. so now that the 'N' word has been addressed, what's the etc. part that you refer to?

Well it is better than the last one :)

It still fails to really address the issue, what is the context of these quotes?

I have seen people say public enemy lyrics are racist. But only when taken out of context, when looked at in context it is racism within the black community that being parodied.

There probably is a case to answer, but since quite a few rappers spend their time parodying gangster culture etc., it is hard to tell and be objective.

I can find much clearer arguments about misogyny or homophobia in black music, but then that can be found easily enough in other genres too.

there is racist hip hop bands about but tbh i think this thread is actually meant to paint the vast majority as racist when in fact it isnt.

theres a lot of hateful violent hip hop out there normally classed as gangster rap, but its generally not racist

they use the N word a lot, again is not racist if used in a certain context
