News: Merkel to award prophet cartoonist

Recommended Posts

Go on, as a socialist, what do you make of Muslim women being made to enter mosques through a side entrance while the men walk proudly through the main entrance?

I didnt expect you to respond to this wildcat.

You know its a disgrace but you can't bring yourself to say it. Just concentrate on those horrible white capitalists instead

Pathetic.

id say its because muslim men demand every right this country has, while at the same time demanding muslim women dont have those rights.

They drew at least fout of them out into the open trying to kill the cartoonist in question. 3 cuaght plotting and one in the act, all islamist, all dangerous to western society and living among us and all now safely caged, one with a few bullet holes for his troubles.

It's a small start, but it is a start in sniffing out the jihadists and putting them beyond causing harm to the public.

You seem to view a lurch to islamic extremism and jihadism as a "right" if anything happens anywhere that might mildly **** off a muslim. It isn't, at least in the west. In parts of the muslim world it's de rigeur, but not here and nor should it ever be allowed to be.

We need to deal with any individual who goes down the jihadist path in our lands with severity and without this endless bleating that dealing firmly with jihadists will cause more jihadists to appear. Anyone who becomes a terrorist because you shoot or jail another terrorist was pretty far down the terrorism path anyway.

if they want to take that route they will, they wont need provoking. what they need is to know they will suffer for the crimes they commit.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I have never said that extremists involved in violent actions should not be dealt with firmly. Indeed I go further.

If you want to deal with extremism, then we shouldn't be rewarding extremist cartoons that would not have been out of place in the Nazi propoganda that Der Sturmer published in the thirties.

Jihadism in and of itself is not the problem. Political Islam is a perfectly legitimate position for someone to advocate and easily accomodated within a democracy.

Extremists weren't brought out in to the open, they were provoked into actions they may not have otherwise undertaken.

It is hypocrisy to argue against extremism, whilst defending it.

I never noticed your question before, although I am flattered to think you have missed me.

Women and men should go in the same door, or perhaps alternatively Women should go in the front door and men in the side door.

But I am not losing any sleep over it, there are more important issues to be worried about and segregation of women in religions is not A) without merits in that it better enables them to act in solidarity as a group and B) it is not a practice restricted to Islam.

the cartoon really did show islam for what it is, via the protests death threats etc.

It showed politics for what it is. The vast majority of protesters, at least in Iran, were paid to protest.

I watched a docu where they tracked down the old guy in Iran who was on the front of many western papers, covered in blood and looking very offended.

He'd never seen the cartoons, he was paid to protest.

When he saw the cartoon he started laughing and said it was pretty funny.

He couldn't see what all the fuss was about because he claimed you could buy massive 6ft posters of Mohammed down the local markets.

Can you back any of this up with anything solid?

It sounds very intriguing but I'm a bit skeptical considering trying to search for this stuff on the internet mostly seems to bring up this thread and no news sources.

So terming holocaust as HOAX and awarding Hitler or Iran's president shouldn't be problem at all.....where's the problem???

Exactly. If someone wants to argue that the Holocaust was a hoax let them. It's called freedom of speech.

The Americans have the right attitude to it in the First Amendment to the US constitution:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

I can't I'm afraid. I also looked but the sheer amount of links is bewildering.

It would have been on Ch4, either a piece on the evening news or a program immediately after.

Nothing wrong with being skeptical, but without a link I can only recount what I saw.
