Police at it again!

Recommended Posts

Balance is the key word in most things. He was over aggressive, not necessarily bent. He flipped out on one occasion, what if he was fine on the 28,000 other occasions? At the end of the day there is corruption and dodgy elements in all institutions and the police numbers around 150,000. Inevitably there will be a minority of wrong uns, but that is not a reason to tar them all with the same brush. Only a hard boiled leftie with ten cats and too much time on their hands would think like that.

It is inevitable that in any organisation, there will be some bad apples.

The test is how much effort that organisation goes to to weed out those bad apples, what system of checks and balances they have to make sure that bad things do not happen.

In this case, any system they have got has fundamentally broken down.

The function of a custody sergeant is to deliver Her Majesty's hospitality to those to whom it has been deemed necessary to receive it. He has nothing to do with the investigation of any alleged crime.

If, for whatever reason, a detainee has somehow rattled the custody sergeant, then he should step back and defer the task to someone new.
