HappyHoosier
I like to look at online real estate listings from other countries. I'm just curious... what is a "chain" or "upper chain"? Apparently, properties without chains are better than ones with. Ta.
Alex C.
A chain is when someone is selling their house to raise the money to purchase the new house and has an offer agreed on the house. Properties without 'a chain' are better as there is no reliance on anyone else for the sale to go through Theres a good explanation here
Paul2412
Alex has just about explained it, if you want a fast purchase then no chain is much better. The person selling the house you want might be waiting for the house they want to be sold, and so on and so on. The bigger the chain, the more likely part of the chain will break leaving everyone else in limbo.

Bassman62
22yards I think so it means if you're buying a house with a chain it has 22 backyards so it must have a sizeable piece of land to it, I think.
