hard2miss
Apparently homosexual behaviour has been observed in 1500 species and is well documented in over 500. As that's non procreative I would assume it's for pleasure? Or to try and get rid of an annoying itch.
Chris_Sleeps
Apparently homosexual behaviour has been observed in 1500 species [...] I would assume it's for pleasure? You'd have to prove that hetrosexual animals have the concept that sex is for procreation. The drive to have sex would be the same in both sets, so it isn't neccessarily for pleasure. HappyHoosier
Humans are the only species to have sex for a beach-front villa in Costa Rica, however.

HeadingNorth
Don't all animals(humans included)have sex because they're horny? That is true. In many animals, though, the male will only become aroused when the female is giving off certain pheromones, and the female only gives those off when she is ready to conceive; the rest of the time, she does not, the male doesn't get horny, and even if he did the female would refuse to mate with him. The bonobos are notable exceptions to this generalisation, if only because they take "recreational sex" to a level far beyond even what most humans will do. There are, though, most likely a lot of other exceptions if only I was a good enough animal expert to know about them.
Bloomdido
We don't do it when the female is 'in season'. We do it all the time. Read chapter 2 of the ' Naked Ape'.

Well, yes, we're the other most notable exceptions, because we are us and know our own behaviour intimately.
