So once again it seems,after the press use the arrest of innocent men to cause fear of terrorists in our country.surprise surprise,no evidence found and they have been released.

They were trying to link them to 'al qaeda' yesterday.:confused:

The problem theSecurity Service and the Police have is that if they don't act and something happens they will be harangued (sp) for failing to act, yet if they act upon evidence they receive and it turns out ot be a mistake they're accused of trying to instill a climate of fear in the population.

The very nature of their job means that the evidence they have tends to be patchy at best and may only come to them at the very last minute leaving very little time for further investigation.

Arresting people then releasing them without charge in any investigation is hardly unusual, but when done under certain circumstances people seem to read far more into things than they should.

Maybe they shouldn't report it that way then.The press had them down as possible al qaeda because of their country of origin.(not white)it is racist and plants seeds of suspicion.

I bet the headlines over their release without charge is far less prominent than those on the arrest of "bomb plotters."(bin men)

Hey,a link to bin laden.:hihi::|

I don't believe the Security Service or the Anti-Terrorism unit commented on the ethnicity of the suspects (if you can show me where they did, I will happily retract this). All they said was that they were not British Citizens.

The media are the ones who have splashed the Al Qaeda headlines across their front pages. Maybe we should encourage a little more restraint from the media?

If these men are a real danger ,shouldn't us,the public know who they are,so we could maybe help capture these dangerous people?(photo's)

Or is it just fear mongering and leading us to expect attacks and assume who's guilty without investigation ?

You don't get out much, do you?

The Express front page even had them as 'bogus street cleaners' but seemed certain they were terrorists. In fact the opposite it true.

The Mail, Express, Sun and Star are digusting racist hate rags for morons.

Perhaps you should read about the ricin plot awhile back. People were arrested under the anti-terrorism laws, banged up for no reason, no ricin was ever found and all charges were dropped. Despite knowing that fact Blair and Bush was happy to state on TV that the raid was a success and they had stopped a potential terrorist disaster. That evidence? was then used to promote going to war.

This bit of propaganda has probably been done to try and justify the vast amount of money spent on the Popes security and to make the public think it was worth it.

Don't you also think it strange that just as the IRA was disarming and no longer being a threat the government decided to go to war causing a new and even greater terrorist threat.
