catlover1
Just a word of warning if you are driving on the streets of Sheffield , beware the banged up old car in front of you who brakes suddenly , with or without working brake lights . The driver will probably suddenly find they have whiplash etc . . If you have a mobile phone with camera take a photo of them , if their mates suddenly turn up on the scene out of the blue with blank sheets of paper ready to fill in insurance details get more suspicious . If the first thing they do is call for an ambulance for themselves get really suspicious ! You can file a confidential report on-line with the Insurance Fraud Bureau who will probably be more effective than the police or your insurance company at tracking down these "cash for crash" scam artists . Nagel
Has this actually happened in the Sheffield area yet? I read about this recently and the main areas were London, Birmingham and Lancashire. The perpetrators so far have been from South Asian families as the scam relies on bumping up the fees and charges to ridiculous levels through solicitors and doctors in the family. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11046344
bluevan
We had one the other month, a woman and 4 kids, slammed brakes on we went into back of her and she said she'd hurt her neck, we werent going fast, She had 4 kids in car seats and 3 of them were still asleep, thats how much of a bump it was , no damage to cars but she was off to hosp for her neck, oh and she said she'd hit her head on windscreen but no marks! Bonjon
Unfortunatley with the wider press coverage of cash for crash scams recentley I think we will start seeing more low lives trying this out to top up their dole money!!
alchresearch
Maybe if people kept a bigger distance from the car in front there wouldn't be so much of a problem.

Isnt it strange how most of these types of crimes (along with the importation of drugs, prostitution and other revolting crimes) are almost exclusivly commited by our foreign 'friends'. And people wonder why we are getting sick of immigration.
js2012
The irony of what you say there is that if the car in front does suddenly stop, and you crash into its read end, it is your fault for not paying attention and/or going at a speed in which you didn't have time to stop. Either way, it is you at fault, whatever the car in front is attempting to do. Technically your correct. Im not arguing with whos fault the law would see it as. js2012
But anyway, please don't try turning this into another thread about immigrants etc. Understood
