Have you watched Shawshank redemption?

Yes. It's well crafted but I find it a little too sentimental to warrant repeat viewing.

I keep meaning to watch Eternal Sunshine..., Das Boot and Dr Strangelove.

Not a fan of Star Wars at all, and despite Children of Men having that excellent tracking shot at the end I didn't rate it that much. 28 Days Later was spoiled by reading The Day of The Triffids the week before, plus I couldn't believe Jim would take on all those soldiers.

Jaws and Zodiac get a thumbs up though!

I like the analogy of 28 Days Later as being a film about Cillian Murphy's character Jim developing from new born baby to adulthood. The start of the film he's helpless and naked, and is only just able to to breath and eat after his accident, he then goes on to develop into someone who accepts the responsibility to protect and look after his loved ones.

Unlike a lot of other people I thought the climax in the country house ended the film well when Jim was lost in his own personal rage, whist trying to carry the weight and expectations of his responsibilities. I loved the score by John Murphy in particular the way the song In the House - In a Heartbeat was used in the climax.

28 Weeks later was a disappointment for me, the first 10 minutes was as good as, if not better than anything that went before it in the first film; but when the story got moved into London it got a bit too formulaic. I remember reading somewhere that Danny Boyle directed the first scenes in the country house and then handed the project over to Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.
