I remember when it was the Cavendish and my mother made the pink skimpy costumes for the gogo dancers. I used to go in on many a night when it was Baileys

To see how the costumes came out ?

My Cavendish visits nearly got me divorced, every Friday night I went out with my old mates down town, before setting off I promised the bride that I wouldn,t go with the lads to the Cavendish after closing time!.Without fail I broke my promise arriving home at all hours not falling about but definitely under the influence, peer pressure and my weak resolve winning every time, the best part was I had to be up for work Saturday morning at 5am!.I don,t know how I did it but I never knocked once, arriving home after work the arguments were epic,it was all my fault and looking back I feel ashamed of my behaviour,I was immature and selfish!.Putting that aside in the early 60s pubs closed at 10pm so we had after bird favourites the Locarno had a bar upstairs open until 1am and Saturday nights we all took the wives and girlfriends to Roger Eyres otherwise known as the Ladybower Inn,I don,t think Roger had a watch,he was open all hours but only if he knew you!.He was a famous character who has been written about on the Forum before he was a bit of a lad alright!,it was over 50yrs ago how time flies!

around the time John Travolta of Saturday Night Fever was all the go ?

Like to think I have a good memory for the names of old pubs and nightclubs but the name of this one escapes me.

Bailey's
