paranoid
hi everyone i'm looking for somewhere fairly lively to go this weekend for a nice meal, and i've narrowed it down to these places: las iguanos, west one zizzi's, leopold square walnut club, ecclesall road bar 23, west one i've never been to any of the above, so your advice would be much appreciated. please note, i don't want it to be rowdy and in your face, but i'd like it to be a bit lively and have music etc cheers
Claret
Wouldnt recommend any of them. If you want lively but not ott go to platillos. If you want quiet try wig and pen. Out of town try milestone. Enjoy wherever you go!
ringotheowl
bar 23 is decent food and drink. My missus liked it the times we've been in.

Have you thought of G Casino? Live music from 10.15pm, no dealing with city centre Saturday night drunks, free parking, central location for taxis etc. http://www.gcasino.co.uk/sheffield/ A much more civilised night than West St! medicgirl
Las Iguanas is OK, the cocktails are nice.
jomarch
I've had good meals in Iguanas too- last time celebrated my daughters birthday there and had fab cocktails. If you go before 6:30 you can get good offers, but service can be slow!
paranoid
thanks everyone! we're going to give las iguanas a go tonight because it seems the most fun (from the web sites!) probably give platillos a try next weekend cheers
dondada
I'd be interested to know how Las Iguanas went. Used to love it but find it has really gone downhill lately. Platillos lovely but different gravy too in terms of price.
paranoid
hi everyone we enjoyed las iguanas, it was just what we were looking for... a fun restaurant with music and decent food. the staff were very helpful and friendly and it had nice decor. it does exactly what it says on the tin, it's not claiming to be a michelin starred restaurant, it's just a fun place to visit with a good atmosphere and all of the food was nice. we ordered tapas and 2 rasberry cooler's, a pint of san miguel, a bottle of coroner, and a diet coke. in total the bill came to £37.60 which i thought was very reasonable. if anyone's interested, this is exactly what we ordered... PAN AJILLO Toasted ciabatta rubbed with garlic, coriander & chilli butter PATO TAQUITO Shredded roast duck & caramelised onion rolled in a flour tortilla & char-grilled, with sticky chilli jam ASPARAGUS SALAD Asparagus, feta & warmed new potatoes tossed with piquant chillies & hazelnut dressing over baby spinach & romaine leaves, scattered with toasted hazelnuts SPICY CHICKEN AND CHEESE QUESADILLA Folded tortilla toasted on the char-grill, Mexican-style, served with homemade salsa PERI-PERI POLLO Fresh chicken breast, coated in crispy crumbed cassava, with a garlic, chilli & lemon sauce CHAMPIÑONES Thick-sliced button mushrooms in a creamy smoked chilli sauce, with warmed soft wheat tortillas PATATAS BRAVAS Fried potatoes in a spicy sauce of tomato, garlic & smoked chilli sauce with aioli
