Get your facts right before damning someone's suggestion! I've been to drain the oil out of my car and filled it with Persil Washing up liquid (original) to the fill level and been for a quick run! It works perfectly well, and cleans the pistons at the same time! ...Bit noisy though

convert
lol you money wasting lot, get the washing up liquid and dribble a few drops over the hinge untill the squeak goes, i always use washing up liquid for hinge sqeaks To be honest I wouldn't use washing up liquid, as the salts / detergents in it are quite harmful to the paintwork of the car. I'd use a spray based lithium grease (also good for door seals), or WD40 at a push. Although as a penetrating oil plus gas is much better than WD40. alchresearch
I use WD40 first to spray off any build up of muck which accumulates around them, then add a bit of copper or spray grease.
