Giving to charity by standing order.

Recommended Posts

I recently returned from London where I watched a Forensic sculptor reconstruct a tiger from its skeleton using clay.

The project was a fundraiser to save tigers from extinction.

Excellent project.

However the next day several folk were hanging around the finished sculpture signing folk up to make donations by standing order. Indeed they were very insistent that they signed you up on the spot rather than allowing you to walk off with a form that you could mail to the charity involved.

This is because they are not charity workers but agents on commission. Anyone signing up to give in this way will earn the agent up to £150 from the charity. That can often mean the first year or two of your donations go to the agent before one penny goes to the cause.

BEWARE.... If you want to give to charity do not involve a middleman.
