Atheists fail to riot at threat to burn The God Delusion

Recommended Posts

What about those people (more often than not women) who are in a partnership and contract the virus from their partner, who has either had extra-marital sex or, is in a culture where polygamy is practised?

Agreed. Or where a person is not fortunate enough to have a single partner (due to death) - there are a million different reasons why someone might not stay with a person.

And worse, would anyone judge someone with 10, 50 or even 1000 person on the number of partners they've had.

And people can have safe sex and be very happy and healthy!

How did me manage to get from my light hearted, flippant comment in #170 to depressing judgements about the sins of human sexuality?

Why are most religions so obsessed with turning things that are pleasurable and make us happy, into things which are sinful and in turn making us unhappy?

Probably has something to do with celibacy...amazing how far you will go to make someone feel bad about themselves based on a decision that somehow sex is a Godly act and should be confined to one person. My guess is most celibates just can't get it up and rain damnation on those that can in envy. It's a control thing.

I know, this obsession with sex and making anyone who enjoys it for recreational purposes and outside of marriage guilty and/or ashamed seems to be prevalent across most religions. What is even more absurd is that these notions still persist.

Because, I sincerely believe religion is about control. All the lists of things you shouldn't do, rather than letting people use their own judgement to decide what's right for them.

If we spent more time teaching our children to trust their own inner voice, they'd be able to decide for themselves what's right or wrong for them.

Look at this thread: it's not logical to assume that people who don't belive in something would react in the sane way ad people who do...

Continuing the theme: all this obsession and empahasis on the immaculate conception and being constantly reminded of Mary's virginal status.

On that note, didn't Adam and Eve basically propagate the whole human race?

A species built on incest- no wonder Christians are hung up about sex..

Perhaps it's just the way that religions have evolved, in a manner that the meme can most successfully spread?

If the religious meme can convince the hosts that the very actions that are inevitable, pleasurable and natural, are also sinful and in need of the redemption services provided by said religion, then it will spread in ever increasing circles.

That's my theory anyway.

That will teach you to post fiction as fact.

It should teach you to read what is before your eyes, not what you would like to be there.:loopy:

I just don't care

The why keep reading/posting?

Stop being so antagonistic please.

Oh, what irony.

Hang on, all your questions are taking us off topic.

Something you did on page one. Now that uncomfortable questions are being asked,, you want to get "back on topic":hihi::loopy:

You sound as though you are getting desperate and I'm pulling out.

Run away!!!

I do better that that, I'm celibate.

Only 'cause no one will have you:D.
