Pipsqwark
I went to the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital today to have an examination as i have been getting a few pains in my face and throat, I don't have a registered dentist at the moment so i had to go there. I was examined by a student and a professional and they looked in my mouth and i had an x-ray. What i want to know is do they always do an oral cancer screening? I'm not sure if this is something that is done everytime you see a dentist these days? I have been having problems with my mouth and throat recently so i have been quite concerned. You went to the very best place for this to be spotted. These are the experts, and know what they are doing.
HeadingNorth
I don't think that they routinely test every patient for oral cancer (as in, skin samples, blood tests et cetera). I do know that, if you are showing any sort of signs of it, the dentist is the chap likely to spot it during his normal examination.
Nagel
A dentist will examine your mouth for anything unusual when doing a regular checkup. Mine found a small growth and I was referred to the Charles Clifford as they're the experts in this kind of thing. It was removed, examined and found to be non-cancerous.
