My car insurance has doubled this year they say its due to the bad weather we had last winter and has gone up 40%.

I have tried all the internet websites spent hours on the phone with no luck.

I am now offroad and my car is up for sale as i am not paying double:roll:(well i dont want too!!!

Has anyone else suffered this:huh:

Im well peed off :(

not me, mine has come down because i have a multi car policy.

Its not only the bad weather though its these ambulance chasers with whiplash that claim when they have been bumped at 10 mile an hour. Insurance companies say this adds at least £40 to everyones motor insurance

have you tried the usual things such as limiting the mileage, excluding commuting if you use the bus or have a company car, parking of road or in the garage if you have one?

mine went up on renewal but the threat of cancelling it and going elsewhere resulted in a reduction to last years price.

i have also just renewed my home insurance with swinton, they tried increasing it by over 100% due to the economic climate?, i did a quick search on go compare and got it lower than i paid last year, and suddenly swinton managed to reduce there 100% increase to £10 lower than i found on the internet.

Not quite. The quote you're referring to relates to uninsured drivers. They're the ones that add £40 to each premium. Legal costs in normal RTA claims have reduced by around 60% this year after the new MOJ scheme came in.

Uninsured drivers however are annoying.

Just had my renewal through and it's gone up by about 15%. I'll be doing a bit of shopping around before making a decision. In my experience companies don't treat existing customers very well and tend to not offer the best price in the hope that people can't be bothered to shop around and just accept it. My insurers tried this last year until I told them I wasn't renewing the policy, magically they were suddenly able to reduce the premium by nearly £100.

Mine went up only very slightly, but it seems like you have to build no-claims just to stand still these days.

I have had it before, where my insurance quote doubled in one year. The company said it was because a lot of my model of car had been stolen in that year. It's any old excuse, what they want is to have you off their books. It's because each year insurance companies assess likely risk profiles from their customers and will either drop their premiums if the assessment says they are too cautious or try to get rid of the higher risk groups if they think the opposite.

Insurers play the money markets and the odds like casino banks and it ends up with Joe public suffering in the end.

Yep ive lowered the millage put social onlyparked in a locked garage ive tried it all.

Even when she rang me to tell me that the insurance was up for renewal and told me the price then i said OMG she said"yes i know if i was you id check the internet .

What is anoying me more than anything is that last year i passed my test the 13th september.

Ibought my car on the 14th insured it fully comp brand new driver £600.

1 year on............

1 year older

More experianced driver

1 year no claims
