Should I work strictly to my job description?

I think that all workers do far more than our job descriptions, on a daily basis.

This is very true. The amount of unpaid overtime worked in the private sector is astonishing.

It's very unpleasant the way that the Tories and their press are trying to divide and rule by turning private sector employees against those in the public sector. Of course the rich don't tend to point out in their media that all sectors of workers are doing badly while the rich are still rich. Instead we have gone from a 'Hard Working Family' to a 'Lazy Scum Family' overnight

I think it's very important for people in all sectors to avoid fighting among each other for the scraps left by the rich. We should turn our fire on them instead; we could all have better lives if the rich were a bit less rich.

Not wanting to anticipate Mrs McB's answer, but public or private, you still have to contribute.

I was in the public sector, but thanks to PFI am now in the private sector, and my contributions are the same.

So dont try that silly argument.

In your eyes on 19th November last, I went from being a slit eyed villain, to a white hatted hero, purely because I was no longer an NHS employee?

I am doing exactly the same job, but with a worse grace.

Instead of helping my fellow man, all my efforts do now is to make the capitalists pockets heavier.

The public sector pension scheme (NHS) has always required employee contributions. However, the private sector pension scheme was fully funded by my son's employer when he first worked for them. Now employees have to contribute.

Here's an idea: Why don't half of the people in the town hall go on strike for say . . . ten years and see if anyone notices. :hihi:

All residents of Sheffield who do not spend their lifes with their heads under the blankets or up their own backsides would notice.

Finished doing the films - I thought I had already told you - or was it another lefty, you all sound the same to me :hihi:

It's only tiresome cause it's true and you don't like it.

As far as I'm aware, none of the above are peddling divide and rule propaganda. Media is just the plural of medium. All I did was suggest that the Tories have more than one outlet for their propaganda. You might think it's coincidental that the Mail, Express and Telegraph keep carrying stories about benefit cheats and 'lazy' public sector workers with 'gold-plated pensions' when the Tories are about to take the axe to benefits and the public sector but that seems a bit far-fetched to me. 'Softening up' seems to describe it well.

But it's far from one sided coverage. the vast majority of people in this country get their news from a left wing source. Some of us listen to both sides of the story and make our own minds up.

Media is just the plural of medium.

thanks for the English lesson - very informative. Did you know graffito was the singular of graffiti?
