surley THESE are the people, that benefit was aimed at in its origin.

really?

ive got 4 kids, earn over £44000, in two years child benefit will stop and so will tax credits, as you cant have one without the other. without tax credits ill have to pay full child care costs. so today will cost me £8000 ish. that fair?

Did you have your two children because these benefits were available?

Don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but isn't there a perverse disincentive stopping people getting a promotion in Osbourne's plan?

Say you earn £43,999, and have two kids. This means you get around £1,800 tax free Child Benefit a year on top of your wages. Once you go over £44,000 you lose the benefit and go into the higher tax bracket. This means that you are going to have to have a promotion that pays around £3,000 just to be back where you started (maths ain't my strong point, so no doubt someone clever than me will come in with the exact amount. And the thing is, this disincentive becomes even greater if you have more kids.

Not saying that richer people should still get the benefit, but Osbourne's plan looks like a back of an envelop job.

well you have to put the threshold somewhere.

dont you lot realise its all propaganda to make people in work feel better for doing what they do!, im out of work and in the last 3 weeks my benefit has risen by £30 a week, you look at the cuts the government are saying, none of them will affect the needy which is 40% of the population, its all been said to keep the tax payer sweet! the only just in government has admitted that it will take 2 governments to put these things right, propoganda again cus theres no way they will get a second term, anyone read the internet, we are just on the verge of a second credit crunch and its said the government will have to bail out the banks by 25 billion a month so what will the cut backs do?

rents and council tax are paid yes, care grants are normally granted as a one time payment, most social fund money is reserved for disabled claimants.

Most of these childrens fathers are on LOW incomes, and pay the bear minimum in csa of £5,per week,if they ever bother paying that at all!
