Alex C.
I don't need to, I've defined what car insurance is, and it's not a tax it's an individual mandate. I don't disagree with you, but is the TV License a tax?
chem1st
I don't need to, I've defined what car insurance is, and it's not a tax it's an individual mandate. So your saying it is 'command to an individual to pay'. A tax!
HeadingNorth
So your saying it is 'command to an individual to pay'. A tax! That's not the definition of a tax.
HeadingNorth
A tax need not be collected by the government. By definition, yes it does need to be collected by the government. That's what tax is; money collected by the goverment.
JFKvsNixon
So your saying it is 'command to an individual to pay'. A tax! You see you're doing it again, making up meanings of words. If you sent me your own individual dictionary it'll make things easier. I'd define a tax as a fee charged or levied by a government on a product, income, or activity. chem1st
a compulsory financial contribution imposed by a government to raise revenue, levied on the income or property of persons or organizations, on the production costs or sales prices of goods and services, etc. TAX
HeadingNorth
a compulsory financial contribution imposed by a government to raise revenue, levied on the income or property of persons or organizations, on the production costs or sales prices of goods and services, etc. TAX Precisely. Car insurance does not raise revenue for the government, and so is not a tax.
JFKvsNixon
I don't disagree with you, but is the TV License a tax? I think that in law it is actually classed as a tax.
