laineyiow
I just wanted to say that any profit WRVS makes in their hospital cafes gets gifted straight back to the hospital. And just think how much more expensive it would be if it was a Costa Coffee instead of WRVS!! I quite agree with the comment about Costa Coffee - go to Leeds General and see how expensive it is there to get a drink and something to eat! kimba
I have used it quite a few times and as it is a charity and i know the elderly work there for free it never passed my mind about the prices really i just paid it. If i thought it was ridiculasly expensive and they was ripping me off i would no way use there service.
*_ash_*
Since the thread snip, my last post makes no sense. So I'll add some more I think you have read Wincey's post wrong, she in my opinion is simply getting it out there that the prices are stupidly high for a non-profit business, the prices are alot higher than a supermarkets prices, so surely there is no reason for the prices to be so high whatsoever. And this suggestion of taking your own is just daft! A non-profit business doesn't work at a loss (if it has any sense), it makes money to pay for charitable acts. If it sold things at cost price, it wouldn't contribute to its charitable acts, and therefore wouldn't be any charity that can help others (which is generally what charities do). They make money to pay for charitable causes, i.e all the things I listed earlier, and people volunteer to work for them so they have more money for charitable acts. The comment earlier, not sure who it was now as it has gone, was 'think of the children, and the old people!' ... Use some logic: If someone goes in outpatients regularly, they should know that occasionally there are delays, and take their own refreshments if they are skint. If they are there as a one off, then I can't see much of a complaint for a 50p TWIX, it's hardly gonna break the bank. Also, anyone know what rent they pay if any? Goon also pointed out something, that I wasn't sure if still happened, but if is true means the children and elders wont die of de-hydration. Halibut
I can't think of many other places where you can get a cup of tea for 50p these days. The OP is getting their knickers in a twist over not very much.
