eastbank
Who told you to write that? You boys cannot think for yourselves, or you would not have destroyed yourselves, as you have done, by submiting to the Bullingdon Boys cosh. the tories played a blinder on our estate....now thirty years on all the oldies are living rent free instead of coughing up near on £80 a week in rents....and thanks to dear old maggie...live it up on the costas for three months of the year....happy days are here again.... Tony
Boring! Have a look around the world. Have you seen the economic plight of Ireland? Was that Browns fault too? Yes it was. An interesting thread though. More interesting is that Sheffield folk are happy to show their colours in numbers that wouldn't have been seen in the past. One thing is for sure, our city has not done itself any favours by having a single political persuasion for so many years. A balance of representation is vital for success and it is disappointing a scandel that so many people do not have their views represented in the council chamber. This sort of election result is what you would expect of a central African republic than a democratic Sheffield in 2010 Liberal Democrat 42 seats 87,078 votes Labour 39 seats 85,652 votes Green 2 seats 15,172 votes Conservative 0 seats 35,138 votes Independent 1 seats 173 votes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheffield_Council_election,_2010
Grandad.Malky
In actual fact the majority of people who voted Tory are working class otherwise they would not have polled over 10 million votes. But over 15 million didn’t vote for them and the total number of people voting falls well short of the 50% that Boris seems to think should be required to make strike action valid. That is our system, and that is the way it will remain. The Libdems have lost their chance of PR by amalgamating with, and being consumed by the Tories. The most high profile political suicide since Charles I.
Berberis
But over 15 million didn’t vote for them ... If you want to play that game, over 17 million didn't vote labour. ... and the total number of people voting falls well short of the 50% that Boris seems to think should be required to make strike action valid. Strike action is counted on those who voted fore or against, so with that in mind, 59.1% of those who voted, voted for the government we got. Compare that to 35.2% of the vote received by the last Labour government.

Its odd how Labour supports suddenly become experts on the Lib Dems these days.
Grandad.Malky
, 59.1% of those who voted, voted for the government we got. . I beg to differ, I don’t remember a box on the paper that said coalition, 0% voted for the government we have.
Rampent
Im a working class Tory and Sheffield born and bred , and proud of it . Good times are here , and the bone idle , work shy scroungers that vote Labour in exchange for benefit after benefit are now going to have to leave their sofa`s and work like the rest of us taxpayers. And the end scheme? Are you going to set on people on, who have being unemployed for years? Do you have a business plan? Where are the jobs coming from? Have you not noticed - WE ARE IN A RECESSION. Most folks in gainful employment are looking over their collective shoulders. And looking into a abyss. Standard Tory (no plural ) practice. Hit the weakest. TORY= BULLY. Always being the same.
