Rupert_Baehr
Well, those Saudis don't mess around, do they? - As soon as they realised there was a problem, they pounced on it! - With the speed of a striking slug. I note that the article you quoted Saudi Arabia has overtaken the US as the largest donor to Pakistan's flood relief effort, following criticism that Muslim countries were not giving enough for victims of the disaster. Bassman62
I don't think the Pakistani government has a very secure hold on power. Perhaps the 'balance' of power is so close there that if the present government did all the things it has said it wants to do, they would be kicked out and replaced with a markedly pro-Taleban government. If - for whatever reason - it turns out that Pakistan can no longer be relied on to support NATO, then perhaps NATO will throw the problem back to the UN and let them find other troops to 'solve' the problems in Afghanistan. If that happens can we intern all those of Pakistani origin in this country same as the US did to the US Japs during WWII?
Rupert_Baehr
If that did happen, it would be a real problem. Pakistan has nuclear weapons. If Pakistan was to be taken over by a Taleban-controlled government, the Taleban would have nuclear weapons. Right.
chem1st
Why are these not been guarded  as the taliban are attacking them and have destroyed 30 of them http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-11506512 These incidents were being reported 8 days earlier by RT. http://rt.com/Top_News/2010-10-01/nato-relations-pakistan-deteriorate.html It was even broadcast on British TV! Bassman62
Time we got out of that war. Pakistan, our supposed ally closed the Kyber Pass to NATO supply trucks. With allies like that who needs enemies. And these are the people who were begging us for aid a few weeks back, talk about biting the hand that feeds you. donkey
Skint? - How many poor countries can you list who have their own nuclear arsenal? With the exception of North Korea, about as many as NATO countries have helped to develop them.

It never looks good. We don't have any drones the US does, the drones woukldn't be needed if the Pakistani army and airforce did their jobs properly. The Pakistanis let the Taleban terrorists control the whole of the Swat valley until pressured by Nato and the US.
