Forumosaurus
What has an article written back in July 2009 got to do with the current government or the economy? I think it has quite a lot to do with it, the coming cuts are going to affect us much more than the recession back in '09 did. Which suggests suicides, murders and heart attack will increase again. Which suggests suicides, murders and heart attack will increase again. Wouldn't even bigger cuts over a longer period of time cause even more problems? That is the alternative to the governments proposals, because we'd have to pay back lot's more money at a level that is almost certainly greater than the current government is proposing. If suicides, murders and alcohol abuse deaths rise and fall due to recession, how can the OP claim Labour caused their numbers to be cut?

Anyone with half a brain can see what's happening and it's going to get much much worse. It's a pity those with half a brain (the people who were running the country until May this year?) didn't see what was happening and stop it before it got this bad. When things go well, governments are quick to claim responsibility and more than willing to bask in the praise. When things go wrong, it's always somebody else's fault. "back in '09"? Are you saying that the country has emerged from recession? While I personally don't believe for one moment that it has, I await your praise of the current government for achieving this feat (following the logic of your statement to it's inevitable conclusion). And talking of cuts, if you're so worried about their effects, be thankful that Labour didn't get back in: Alistair Darling: we will cut deeper than Margaret Thatcher Labour plans deeper cuts than Thatcher
