Israel will require new Citizen Loyalty Oath

Recommended Posts

Israel's Cabinet approved a loyalty oath that requires new citizens to pledge allegiance to a "Jewish and democratic" state. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the oath reflects the essence of the state of Israel. Israeli Arabs, who make up 20 percent of the population and tend to identify with the Palestinian cause, describe the loyalty oath as racist.

I've already read online comments describing this as 'facism'. It will be interesting to see how the world reacts to this.

Really? Where?

Not only are there no Christian"Churches in Saudi Arabia but:

"Saudi Arabia July 17, 1998, Under Saudi Arabia's strict interpretation of Islamic law, observance of any religious worship other than Islam is illegal and Christians can be arrested for either distributing Christian materials or attending private meetings for Christian worship.

And:

In the ongoing debate over the NY/NY Ground Zero mosque, it is claimed by the Muslims involved America stands to gain much from accepting the greatness of Islam. But can’t we ask: Would Islam itself allow the building of an “outreach church” in Saudi Arabia? In order to teach Muslims about the beauty of Christianity? Absolutely not. In fact, such a move would not just be seen as absurd, but absolutely illegal, and treated as a capital crime under Saudi Shari’ah Muslim law. Consider this—according to the US State Department, in Saudi Arabia, “No public non-Muslim houses of worship exist…” In other words, there are no churches in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudis run their country according to their laws and customs. It appears that the Israelis have said they are going to do the same. The Israelis are going to require Palestinians to swear an oath of allegiance to a Jewish State. the Palestinians claim it is discriminatory. No doubt it is discriminatory So what? It is discriminatory for any country to make its citizens swear an oath of allegiance. Such an oath discriminates against those who don't want to do so.

Does anybody think the Israelis are going to pay any attention to that complaint? do the Israelis even read the Gruniad? (does anybody? ;))

The article also says that the Palestinians consider that: "Israel can be a state of Jews, but not a Jewish State."

Do you think the Israelis are going to pay any attention to that?

If the Israelis were to say (though I doubt they would be crass enough to say) "Saudi Arabia can be a State of Muslims but not a Muslim State" do you think anybody would pay any attention to that?

The article subsequently says: "America was given another month by the Arab League to persuade Binyamin Netanyahu's government to halt settlement building,"

And if they don't comply with that ultimatum? - What then?

Remember. It is the Guardian.

Oh well, no doubt the Saudis will be opening Christian churches tomorrow morning so they don't get accused of the same thing.

What have the saudis opening christian churches got to do with the op?

Why don't you start another thread about christian churches in saudi arabia instead of derailing this one.

Also may i ask why the Americans havn't pressed the issue of no non muslim places of worship in saudi arabia?

Pure crap and bull****. There are millions of Coptic Christians in Saudi Arabia living peacefully and practicing their norms. Under Islamic law there is full religious freedom to any religion whatsoever. Only there is restriction to build one in the holy cities of Makkah and Madina (much like the Vatican).

Desist from hate speech and defamation.

absolute total garbage. Saudi isn't Egypt. The citizenry is officially reckoned to be 100% Muslim. 100%. It is totally impossible for Saudi citizens to be anything else.
