Israel will require new Citizen Loyalty Oath

Recommended Posts

Sure - i just mean that the pledge isn't going to show anything one way or another in terms of their loyalty to the people they are swearing allegiance to. And that goes for everyone, not just people from the middle-east.

The important thing though is that having sworn the oath of loyalty they would be aware of very serious reprecussions should they renege on that oath.

Lets be honest the real problem is with home grown terrorists of middle east origin and that's why first generation citizens of that group need to be singled out. It's not discrimination it's a question of hard reality.

Forcing people to abandon their chosen religion is the right idea? How, exactly?

Who was/is being forced to abandon their chosen religion?

The new Jewish oath of allegiance requires people to swear loyalty to a Jewish State - it doesn't require them to give up any religion or to accept another.

The problem appears to be that the Israelis are describing Israel as a Jewish state.

Saudi Arabia is the birthplace of Islam. It wasn't known as Saudi Arabia at that time.

The Saudis describe their nation as a Muslim State.

Who cares? - Nobody cares.

What would you expect?

Who cares? - Well, it seem that the Muslim world cares. - They're kicking up a fuss about it.

What would you expect?

Actually no they don't, because it isn't one. It's a secular state. What we are attacking is the idea that the hardliners should turn it into a Jewish state. We've got more than enough theocracies in the world as it is, and none of them are very nice places.

Just because you think the discrimination is justified does not magically make it not discrimination. What would you have done with Japanese americans during World War 2?

I am concerned that in being forced into swearing their allegiance to Israel, the Palestinians are being forced into giving tacit support to the regime which is killing 10:1 ratio of their citizens (for every 10 Palestinian deaths, there's one Israeli death).

How can the Palestinians swallow such an injustice?

I would have done the same. There were plenty of sympathisers, spies and fifth columnists in Hawaii and on the west coast and there was a very real belief that the Japanese would attempt a landing somewhere along the west coast just after Pearl Harbor.

Both Hawaii and California had very sizeable Japanese populations

All this might sound far fetched now but dont judge the actions of those in the past from 20/20 hindsight

Of course these facts have been conveniently forgotten

What happened to people of German nationality living in Britain when WW2 started.
