FORE
I heard that before the anti freeze additive for diesel lorry drivers used a 50/50 mix of diesel and petrol to stop the diesel from freezing. I wonder how true that is There are safe percentages on the AA site. Don't trust 50:50!!
sedith
I did the same a couple of months ago, £37 of petrol in my diesel car. It cost me £180 to have it drained (inc £15 diesel to prime it) .... ouch!!! Don't lock/unlock the vehicle as it primes the pump!

sedith
I reckon he may get away with it! Just the expense of cleaning the fuel pump and injectors out as well as draining the tank. ! It'd have been worse putting diesel in a petrol vehicle. Friend of mine put £10 petrol in her diesel by mistake, then just brimmed it with diesel, everything was fine, no problem. MuteWitness
I've heard that in winter some people add a little petrol to the diesel, like Bozz said.
alchresearch
I've heard that in winter some people add a little petrol to the diesel, like Bozz said. Many who run their diesels on veggie oil put in a but of unleaded as it tends to get thicker when cold. I'd probably take a chance on an older diesel, but not something as new as the OPs. Bozz
Post 8 - "A vaxhall combo 04 reg" I mist that one. I once put £3 worth of unleaded in my diesel primera, I just filled it up with diesel, never noticed any effects
Dave_H
Can you take the fuel pipe off the filter under the bonnet and use the vehicle pump to empty the contents of the tank into a container. Clean out the filter and refill everthing with fresh diesel. It will take some starting and may need some jump leads to get going. Failing that, I can give you the phone number of a guy who specialises in sorting mis-fuelled vehicles.
