How do I complain about thefts from within post items?

Recommended Posts

I advise sending cash in the post uninsured as the cost of insuring it is too high. If you send cash in the post frequently it's better to take the risk of loss yourself than pay the ridiculously high cost of insurance that the post office charges.

It works out cheaper to take the occasional hit when a letter goes missing than to insure every letter. It's also advisable to disguise the cash so that it can't be felt or seen from the outside.

So £5.05 is ridiculously high price when,

a guaranteed £500 insurance

delivered next day by 1 o'clock

proof of delivery

and 99% of uk covered

By the way it's a royal mail service NOT by the post office.

For an item worth four or five hundred quid it's obviously good value, but if you just want to send your niece a tenner at Christmas it's a big extra charge on top.

Plus like all insurance it will have a long and arduous claims process - otherwise it would be open to massive fraud so for people who genuinely need to claim they may have a long fight on their hands to get the claim paid out.
