Who knows. But if you charge for a service such as a tyre pressure check you have a statutory duty for that service to be correct. Mondeo Man Posted October 17, 2010 Share Posted October 17, 2010 The one you bought from Halfords for 30p that was made in Taiwan in 1985 probably doesn't. I don't buy 30p pressure gauges. If you want to be certain of the accuracy of a tyre pressure gauge you have bought, pop into your local tyre bay, and ask them to run it against their certified gauge. Probably, - the AA published a survey a while ago claiming that the majority of air pumps at filling stations were inaccurate, some dangerously so. I bought a cheap electric inflater from Halfords which a fitter at Hawleys Tyres kindly calibrated for me....it was just 1 psi out. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They spend a fortune on electricity to run it and for maintaining it. You must be an MP to have such an unrealistic idea of how much things cost. You can get a much better compressor than those provided on garage forecourts for <£100 and the electricity to run them is negligible. Shell have for a while provided air free, and as such have been high on my list of preferred dealers. Esso charge 50p, I don't go there at all since I discovered that.
